Wegen seines vorzeitigen Todes blieb das gewaltige Vorhaben zwar unvollendet, doch wurde er zum wichtigsten Vermittler der griechischen Logik, Mathematik und Musiktheorie an die lateinischsprachige Welt des Mittelalters bis ins 12.
